CLOU Architects is an internationally operating architectural practice that was founded in 2015 by German architect Jan Clostermann, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Lisbon. It designs innovative, engaging social spaces focused on human interaction and collective identity. The philosophy of the firm is based on creating an environment that will bind people together while focusing on lively retail and leisure destinations, large mixed-used complexes, and community hubs.
CLOU is driven by turning challenges into architectural opportunities. By marrying smart creativity with commercial insight, it delivers projects that are functional yet imaginative and forward-thinking. Each project is undertaken with an intent to find its special "CLOU"-that one design element that turns the ordinary into something special and strikes a balance among economic, social, and environmental concerns in a sustainable manner.
CLOU Architects adopt an integrated approach to design: master planning, architecture, façade design, urban renewal, landscape design, interior design, and more. A project with them gets funneled through a rigorous process of multidisciplinary integration in model building, visualization, BIM, and retail consultancy. Teamwork ensures perfect coordination of the client's vision with the consultants' and contractors' expertise at every stage of design and construction.
With more than 70 architects and designers from all over the world, CLOU Architects stands proud of its community of talents, working optimistically and ambitiously toward iconic destinations. Helmed by Jan Clostermann, the firm has received numerous international awards for its work, which reflects its commitment to push the boundaries of architecture and leave a positive mark on the urban environments it touches.
