His commitment to craftsmanship and personal service formed the basis of what Houndstooth stands for today.
That tradition was passed to the next generation when Leo's son-in-law, also a tailor, opened Rick's Tailoring and Menswear in 1978. Decades after serving the community, this family decided to focus on Houndstooth, the modern expression of their tailoring legacy. Under the direction of Jeff Covitz, this store marries timeless values with modern design, offering a shop experience that focuses on quality, attention to detail, and friendly customer service.
Houndstooth creates custom clothing for all occasions. From tailor-made suits to sport coats, trousers, and dress shirts, the tailor has fitted over 3,500 custom pieces, showing great ability with challenging sizes, specialty fabrics, and individual tastes. The shop works with the client to bring a vision to life, from classic black tuxedos to more eclectic designs. A 4–6 week turnaround allows each garment the time and attention it deserves, though clients are encouraged to plan ahead to allow for a seamless process.
